  • There are some settings that can be changed in the programming to optimize your reception of simulcast systems. Click on Attach files and Open the zipped folder. To be able to attach your programming file, you need to right click on it and Send to Compressed (zipped) folder. Anne Arundel County is in the process of switching over from its current Motorola Type II system to a similar P25 system. The only radios designed to receive simulcast systems and will work at my location are the Uniden SDS100/SDS200 scanners and the Unication G4/G5 pagers. If your scanner works or not depends upon your location in relation to the towers. It is practically useless receiving the Baltimore County system at my home in northern Baltimore County. I have a Radio Shack Pro-197 which is the older base/mobile version of your scanner. The signals arrive at you scanner at slightly different times which degrades the ability of your scanner to properly decode the control channel. Although only a single site is shown in the database, the site consists of many towers all transmitting the control channel on the same frequency at the same time. I monitor Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Howard County. The programming file is the one you save in ARC500 having a gr5 extension. Thanks again for your thoughts and I'll find out tomorrow. I'll put a set of batteries in it tomorrow and go for a ride in Ho.

But I do know how to answer that question. It is just hard to imagine that their 800 system would stop within 8 miles of the county line before getting to my location. When I scan HoCo or Baltimore, there is absolutely nothing picked up, the scanner never stops on a talk group. There would almost have to be a straight line or curtain between me and the Savage firehouse, where you pick up radio transmissions on one side of the line and hear nothing on the other.

I'm 8.4 miles (straight line) to the Savage fire station which is just over the line in Howard Co. While I understand what your saying, it is hard to imagine that there is not extension of their system into other counties. I was not aware of such a limiting factor of distance with the P25 system, not having read much regarding it. I am familiar with the Motorola system AA County is using, having worked there. Thank you for your time and I hope you can help me Is there a column somewhere that I need to change a value in? or put a value in? Is there a button that I'm missing in Arc500 that will allow the scanner to find the control channels and start receiving and tracking? I'm probably no more than 20 miles to the southern edge of Baltimore city and parts of Baltimore county are almost as close as the city and Howard. I'm probably 10 minutes from the Anne Arundel/Howard county line. I'm in the western part of Anne Arundel county. I've looked at a number of threads here, web pages elsewhere and I cannot find what I may be missing when selecting frequencies in Radioreference. I cannot get the p25 phase 1 to work for Howard, Baltimore county and Baltimore city. Anne Arundel county Maryland which uses a different Motorola system works perfectly. From what I've read, both the Pro-106 and the WS1040 should be able to follow the P25 phase 1 system. I have uploaded files to both the old pro-106 and my new ws1040 which I'm told is the same as the old pro-106. So.I have a new WS1040 (and also an older Radioshack Pro-106) I have Arc500 software and have used this site to find the trunk tracking frequencies for the county's in Maryland I'm interested in listening to. If I am in the wrong place, my apologies and please aim me in the right direction. I'm having a hard time finding any info regarding this issue. Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this.
